A longstanding connection to community

In 2006, the Foundation launched a neighborhood-based children’s change effort called Good Neighborhoods, a 10-year, $120 million commitment to six Detroit neighborhoods. The neighborhoods -- Brightmoor, Chadsey Condon, Cody Rouge, Northend Central Woodward, Osborn and Southwest Detroit -- were selected because of the large numbers of children living there. Because neighborhood is unique, we took a tailored approach to how we work in each place.

In 2017, the Foundation expanded its strategy and grantmaking citywide, but retains a focus on the places where children reside -- our neighborhoods.
