The Skillman Foundation announces two new staff hires and internal promotions

The Skillman Foundation announces two new staff hires and an internal promotion. 

Kumar Raj, who previously served as a public policy fellow for the Foundation, has been hired in as a program officer, focusing on youth development and education. Prior to joining the Foundation, he earned his masters degree from the Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan. Kumar previously worked with Ashoka's Youth Venture, stateside and abroad, helping young people launch their own social ventures based on the needs they identified in their communities. 

Kurt Griggs-Swanson joins the Foundation as a program administrative assistant. He comes to the Foundation after having supported several nonprofit organizations. Kurt has also served as vice president of the Highland Park Board of Education and president of the Highland Park Housing Commission. 

Simmone Searles has been promoted from human resource assistant to operations manager. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2006, Simonne worked at Miller, Canfield, Paddock & Stone PLC for eight years, ending her tenure in the role of legal secretary. This spring, Simonne graduated from the University of Michigan-Dearborn with a Master's of Public Administration degree.

David R. McGhee has been promoted from program officer to program director, leading the Foundation’s youth development strategy. Prior to joining the Foundation in 2014, McGhee served as a program director for Big Brothers, Big Sisters and as a congressional liaison for U.S. Representative Dan Kildee, who represents Michigan’s 5th Congressional District.
