Carla Smith, Human Resources Officer, joined the Foundation in 2014. Previously, she served as an independent human resources consultant for the Foundation since 2008. In her current role at the Foundation, Smith provides a broad range of HR services to the Foundation’s leadership team and staff to proactively translate the organization’s business needs into integrated HR solutions that best enable the Foundation to meet its strategic objectives. The majority of Smith’s human resources professional experience was at an automotive supplier, ITT Industries-Fluid Handling Systems, located in Auburn Hills, MI, in which she last served as the learning and development manager responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all strategic learning and development initiatives at the headquarters and North American plant locations. Smith graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University and obtained her Master’s degree in Training and Development from Oakland University. She is a native of the west side of Michigan and relocated to the Detroit metropolitan area in 1999. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, participates in competitive running events, practices yoga, and most recently acquired a love for stand-up paddle boarding.
