Mark Navarro
“You can’t love Detroit without supporting its children. And you can’t support its children without fighting for justice in their present and their future.”
Mark Navarro served as a communications fellow with The Skillman Foundation until June 2022, helping to tell the Foundation’s story and the stories of its partners through various channels.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Mark spent two years as a secondary English teacher in Detroit. He also served as a director, recruitment field marketing & communications for Teach For America, where he developed nationally-implemented communications strategies and coached recruiters on marketing and communications efforts.
Mark is an experienced professional in the nonprofit and educational sectors, having worked in both fields since 2011. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Creative Writing and English from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, a master’s in public administration from Wayne State University, and a credential in Social Impact Storytelling from Georgetown University. Currently, he is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management at Wayne State University.
Mark lives in Detroit with his wife, Amanda, and their dog, Lola. Outside of work, he supports Detroit City FC and enjoys playing board games, graphic design and digital art, cooking, and running.
